SMITHLAND, KENTUCKY FIRST SETTLEMENT
This picture was taken by me in Smithland, Kentucky, where great great grandfather Michael Neftzger and his family first settled in the new world.
This one stone contains the name of John, Joseph and Magdelena Neftzger; children of Michael Neftzger. The stone which is now situated under a large tree has broken off at ground level and there are three foot stones for the children.
I have cleaned the stone and hope to have it placed upright in the future.

Because of the great kindness of this gentleman, the Neftzger family is able today to trace our roots to the town of Grosslellenfeld, Germany. Johann Stafflinger stumbled across our simple web site one day and contacted me. He graciously offered to search for our family records in his home church. He has searched church records and sent copies of birth records, pictures of the church and town. Without internet technology we would never have found any of these records. Our hearts are filled with joy for a stranger who came into our lives and brought us our Family History. Johann, once a stranger, is now a integral part of our family.
